Back before we had kids, I used to write recipes, reviews, and articles for a pet website called Petful. One of those recipes was for dog treats that look like Oreo cookies. Cute? Absolutely! It’s also super easy and Banjo loves them!

Ingredients for dog oreos

I made a couple changes to the Oreo recipe. I swapped out the rice flour for whole wheat flour and opted for peanut butter instead of almond butter. I’m happy to say that the recipe turned out great with those modifications.

If you don’t have cream cheese on hand for the filling or if your dog has a sensitive stomach, you can always use some peanut butter or almond butter instead. They won’t have the iconic look of an Oreo, but I guarantee your dog won’t mind.

This recipe yields about a half dozen treats, depending on the size of your cutter. Store them in an airtight container in the fridge and use within a few days.

  2. Combine all ingredients except the cream cheese in a medium bowl until all of the flour is incorporated
  3. Dust your countertop with flour and knead the dough, adding more flour as needed, until it is soft and pliable
  4. Roll the dough out to 1/4″ thickness and, using a 1.25″ round cookie cutter, cut out biscuits
  5. Bake for 8-10 minutes
  6. Allow the cookies to cool completely before spreading the cream cheese on half of them
  7. Use the other half of the cookies to top the cream cheese, creating the Oreo sandwich look
