On Sunday, Bay Ridge hosted a Norwegian parade. As it turns out, there is a large, proud Norwegian population in the area.
Also, as we live on Third Avenue, a main route in Bay Ridge, the parade marched its honking, blaring, boisterous self right in front of our windows. But, given the usual traffic noise and tendency of honey-sweet Brooklyn accents to carry like an empty takeout bag in an updraft, the cacophony was not particularly unusual.
That is, until the bagpipes started marching through playing Amazing Grace… or Like a Virgin… or Enter Sandman. I don’t remember. Whatever song a couple dozen bagpipes were buzzing, it freaked Babe out.
If that wasn’t bad enough, sandwiched between two flocks of bagpipe wielding, kilt clad Norwegians, was a small band whose star performer was an enthusiastic cymbalist. That part of the parade went something like: Crash-Crash-Clang! Woof-Bark-Boof! Clash-Bash-Clang! Bark-Yip-Boof! Buzz-Buzz-Bagpipes-CRASH! Woof-Freaking-WOOF!
And I just sat there on the window sill taking pictures.
For anyone interested, Babe calmed down once she was certain her bug-eyed freak out scared the parade down the road. That’ll do, Pig Dog, that’ll do.
Pig Dog, Fathead, my ward, Mixon (dog walking gig), and Eddie and Maggie (bulldogs in the storefront downstairs) all got to partake in some homemade doggie biscuits. Peanut butter and oatmeal dog cookies (recipe HERE)—they were a hit with the pooches! In fact, they are all gone now. I’ll have to be making more soon!
Speaking of recipes, I tried a new one: Kheema Pav, Spicy Turkey Stuffed Rolls. We had these for three days (that stuff is filling!) and they were fabulous! Excuse the lack of color in my bread. I never brush them with butter or egg for that pretty toasty finish. Maybe I should start.

Is it still having the same problem? I tried viewing my site in Firefox, Internet Explorer and Chrome without issues. Though, I think I’ve seen some issues when it’s opened on devices like cell phones or tablets.
Can you tell me if you had the issue on a PC/Mac or other device? I want to make sure I follow up. 🙂
